Hey, it's
Esmereth here~ ^_^ I'll get right to it!
Why I joinedWhen I first joined dA, it was because I had seen the website's name everywhere when it came to art that I searched for in Google images. I took a closer look at the website, and it looked cool, yeah? So I signed myself up ^w^ I can safely say, I don't regret it a single bit!! (Even though I had no idea what I was doing in the first few weeks :S)
How deviantART has helped me growIn many cases, I've been able to express things that I can't in real life with real people around. DeviantART is like my secret identity, and I've always loved fantasy and secrets! You can express yourself or pretend to be someone else, but you know there will always be this familiar, welcoming community to accept you for it ^_^
I remember one particular time when I was telling a little anecdote from my past to someone whose art had inspired me to share it. I remember getting really nice comments in reply to it, and that made me even happier to have shared it.
The thing with deviantART is that, like many online communities, there will always be flamers, trolls, and art thieves, but there will always be those unbelievably kind people who you would never meet in real life, because it's just not the same. It's always important to have online friends (the nice one, of course), as well as real life friends. Always remember that in real life, outside of cyberspace, you can get physically hurt by bullies and mean people, but online, it isn't as severe. If anyone reading this ever needs anything, or even just someone to vent to and get advice from, I'm here ^_^
"When I was 10, there was this really pretty girl in my class, and her name was Yovela. She was kind of a loner, and she was always drawing things in her sketchbook everywhere she went. One day, I saw one of the other girls in my class approach her at lunch time. She looked like she was asking Yovela what she was drawing. Yovela just shook her head and clutched her sketch book to her chest.
Eventually, the second girl left her alone. Being the person that I was, I went up to Yovela and made sure she was okay. She told me that the other girl had threatened her and called her nasty names because she wouldn't show her drawing. We sat together for a while longer together, and just as the lunch bell went, she asked me if I wanted to see her drawings.
So on the way to class, she talked me through all of the drawings in her sketch book. They were really good, but the nice thing was that she had a story behind each piece and how she got the inspiration for it. We've been friends ever since. But two years later, she moved interstate. We were really sad to leave each other, so we decided that we would send each other drawings every month. We still do, and thinking back to how we met, I'm almost crying : )"
Well, I hope that my memories aren't too boring for you =^_^= And I hope you enjoyed it!!~
